March 13-15, 2026 will be our Flying Smiles Fun Fly Weekend! 

Dinners will be the expected from years past. Friday night will probably be pizza from Corolla Pizza. Saturday night will probably be sandwiches and fried chicken from Food Lion. Sunday night will be home cooked by kiters! 

You can stay on the 24th for a super casual day too, but please know that dinner that night will be leftovers or a group outing to a restaurant as many kiters are going to be traveling home that day! 

Please register here if you're planning on coming so that we can make you a welcome bag and include you in the dinner headcount. 

Flying:

This is what we're all here for!!

We will be flying at the Whalehead Club or the Shad Street Beach Access, depending on which way the wind is blowing. We will know each day what to expect and make the call day by day! Both locations are within half a mile of the shop, so it'll be easy to change locations if the wind shifts.

We will also set up some indoor time at the Pine Island Racquet and Fitness Center, and are also tentatively planning on a night fly (we'll pick which night when we know the weather for the weekend). 

Food:

Coming closer to the event, Cassie will compile a list of restaurants that should be open for breakfast and lunch each day. As we learned the hard way in the past, some will say they're open and then they're not. To help ensure that everyone eats at least one good meal a day, we will be working out group dinners, some home cooked, some from local restaurants. You can expect Pizza, Sandwiches and other affordable "catered" options will be on the list, with ideally one meal cooked with love by us for you! Please bring cash to buy raffle tickets to help us pay for the meals. We're making some items, have uncovered some items from our collections, and are accepting donations to the raffle as well. 

You are welcome to join us for dinner any evening, but please know that we will not be offended if you decide to check out our area restaurants! 

Lodging:

Ready to book your lodging? We've got some great options:

Option 1 - Get a room at the Hampton Inn!

Note - until we remove this note do NOT call the Hampton. The group rate is still being set up and we are waiting to receive confirmation that it's ready. Until then, please be patient. It should be ready during the month of September. 

We've got a group rate set up at the Hampton Inn in Corolla. They're offering us rooms at 15% off per night. They have a 2 night minimum. 

Option 2 - You can rent a 2-3 bedroom condo!

Note - do not contact Jess until we have removed this note. We have reached out to Jess to confirm she's our point of contact, and when she has confirmed, we will remove this note! 

There are a bunch of the condos next to the shop that have been completed in the few years. You can go here to look at pictures. Look at The Beach Club at Whalehead Units. Those are the units next to the shop. They are ALL new builds within the last few years, so you can expect them all to be in fantastic condition. See below for contact info for the property manager, she should be able to help you with the best available rate. 

If you have any questions about the condos, please contact Jess Bullock at jessbullockips@gmail.com. She is their property manager. She may be able to get you a cheaper rate than listed online, so please contact her before making your booking. 
Some units are pet friendly! If you reserve one of those units, you can expect that there will be a pet fee added. 

Option 3 - We already have on house to host dinners, and that house is at capacity. But we are happy to help you coordinate a second house if it's needed. If you want to share a house with other kiters, please indicate that on your registration and we will put you in touch with each other so that you can arrange that house.
